What are you?

Nestling in a stunning rural setting in the historic Rydal Valley amidst the fells and surrounded by Rydal Farm, this grand Victorian building was built as a farm house in 1848 from the stones of ancient Rydal Hall, before being converted into a Country House in the early 1930's. Today it has been sympathetically renovated to provide you with a perfect base to explore the beautiful Lake District, providing Bed and Breakfast near Ambleside.

Where are You?

There are few better sited country houses in the area, located in two acres of private woodland gardens we are surrounded by the magnificent Fairfield Horseshoe and Loughrigg Fell, with splendid views out towards the fields of Rydal Valley to the front of the house. Set peacefully away from the road, next to a working farm we are half a mile from Ambleside and ten minutes drive from Grasmere.

Who are you?

Crow How is a family run, fully licensed Country House, run by John and Eddy Doano, their son Matthew and their family. We have over 25 years experience in hospitality and catering in the Lake District. We take pride in our house and look upon it as a home, rather than a hotel in Ambleside. We have a very relaxed style and are happy to give any advice and/or help where needed.

Why should i stay with you?

Having moved into Crow How Hotel in January 2005 we have undergone a large renovation program over the past 8 years. This has resulted in the complete redesign and refurbishment of all our En-suite bedrooms. All rooms have King or Super King size beds, DVD players, flat screen TVs, ipod docking stations and modern bathrooms. All our Superior and Premier rooms have good seating areas and views over either Rydal Valley or overlooking our large gardens towards the fells. Unfortunately we do not take children under the age of 12.

Ideally located in the heart of the Lake District, we are in a peaceful and secluded position, surrounded by mountains and fells but only 10 minutes walk away from Ambleside with its shops, cafes and restaurants with Grasmere only 10 minutes drive away.
